Julie Forrester is a resident of Cork, Ireland where she maintains a studio practice, mainly in response to just being here and now. Works include drawing, sculptoral and moving image elements and are a document of encounters with the everyday. Currently she is developing graphic work ‘in exchange’ with Annie Forrester (daughter).
Julie has been a member of Backwater Artists Group, She has worked with Cork’s Art Trail where she was project manager of Soundworks and edited SOUNDWORKS For those Who have Ears with Danny McCarthy, and was Art Trail’s artistic director in 2006/07. Julie was one of the initial crew on Cork Community Art Link and has worked with groups across Cork City. She has produced a number of works under the per cent for Art scheme for the Department of Education and has also worked on projects for local authorities. Julie currently works on collaborative arts programmes as a member of the artists panel at The Crawford Art Gallery, where she leads the Animation Summer Camps for children and other gallery responsive programmes. She has been involved with Kids’ Own Publishing Partnership since its inception before the millennium and is currently artist in Residence on the Virtually There Project at Killard House. She also delivers continuing professional development projects for teachers and leads programmes in schools for CRAFTed, the Design and Craft Council of Ireland’s Education programme.
